In the 60’s, Mr. JULIÁN GONZÁLEZ NÁJERA, a  young Spaniard of barely 20 years old, from Madrid and eager to work,  arrived in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) . In the capital of Spain, he had worked in well-known restaurants such as “Casa Valentín”, located in Plaza del Carmen and at the Barajas Airport, among others. He arrives in Cartagena de Indias to work as a chef at the famous Hostería del Laurel, accepting an invitation from Don José María Raventós. Then, years later, during an International Film Festival, which was held in Cartagena, he met the bullfighter Pepe Dominguín, who suggested that he move to the city of Bogotá and direct the kitchen of a restaurant that they would open, a project that was not carried out. performed. However, while there, he tries his luck at the famous restaurant of the time: “the Ace of Cups.” Later, love knocks on his door and he meets his current wife Doña María del Carmen Roa.

In the 1970s, he returned to Cartagena, at the request of the Hotel Americano, to direct the kitchen at the “La Boite” grill. In this hotel, thanks to his imagination, wisdom and passion, he gained fame in the city, becoming “the Best Reference for Spanish Gastronomy in Cartagena.” Years later, after the hotel closed, he worked at the renowned Club Unión de Cartagena and at the Club de Pesca Restaurant.
His wishes and dreams of progress and satisfaction were fulfilled when he opened his own restaurant in 1974, in the tourist neighborhood of Bocagrande, in the city that opened its doors to him and that adopted him as a son and that also proudly considers itself a Cartagenero.

With satisfaction, today the company has the support and interest of the first and second generation of the family, who from a very young age have been learning all the secrets inherited from their father and grandfather, contributing to Chef Julián Restaurant maintaining its trajectory over time. consolidating itself as a reference for Spanish gastronomy in Colombia.
